Nagano to Kyoto

Today was a travel day from Nagano to Kyoto. We had two train trips (Shinkanzen and then a "Thunderbird" :)) each one as comfortable as the other. Japanese railways are the absolute best. Travelling in the green (first class) car is the best travel experience I have ever had. The weather has changed considerably from our first sunny days in Kamakura. The landscape from Nagano to Kyoto was snowy, icy and cold (just think rice padis frozen solid). We arrived in Kyoto to our first taste of rain since we arrived in Japan.

We are staying in down town Kyoto. Apparently, this is the 'cool' district of Kyoto. Ronan is loving it already. Tiny back streets and a lot of old time Japanese architecture. All we had time for today was some grocery shopping and settling into our very swish (and very small) Kyoto apartment.
